NEW DELHI: Come Friday and the premium class flyers of
Air India will be able to taste from a range of delicacies and then get what they liked. AI will join Star Alliance on Friday and has taken a series of steps to improve the experience for first and business class passengers.
The airline has tied up with TajSATS, one of India’s leading in-flight caterers, to launch a new dining concept called “table set-up” that will allow “passengers to visually examine and taste a variety of dishes and then pick and choose from the array of delightful food options available”.
This service will be for first and business class guests on select domestic and international routes.
TajSATS COO Ranjiv Ramanathan said: “TajSATS is proud to take the lead in partnering Air India to provide an elevated dining experience with the launch of ‘table set-up’. We are privileged to join hands with India’s oldest airline to design and deliver a fresh and innovative on-board meal experience to guests.”
TajSATS director (food production) Satish Arora, the chef who has developed this concept, said: “With the introduction of this concept, AI will adopt a more pleasant and elaborate dining experience that will be far different from the traditional meal offering. The ‘table set-up’ has been conceptualized to provide first and business class guests the opportunity to savour tailor-make dishes based on their individual tastes and preferences.”
TajSATS Air Catering Ltd is a JV between The Indian Hotels Company Ltd of the Taj Group and Singapore-based SATS Ltd.
