PANAJI:
Air Asia is offering tickets worth Rs 291 each — all taxes inclusive — for its inaugural Goa-Bangalore flight on June 12. The return flight on the route the same day is slightly more expensive — Rs 490 per ticket (all inclusive) — as Bangalore airport’s charges are more expensive than Goa’s, an Air Asia representative said.
A similar offer of air tickets cheaper than bus fares from the budget airline will be available on select days until October this year.
Other airlines too have slashed their fares. GoaAir’s flight fares start from Rs 1,499 and are even cheaper than Air Asia’s (Rs 1,699) on June 13. Indigo is also offering a marked price of Rs 1,848 on the same day.
There are just a few seats left on most Air Asia flights until the end of July. “I booked a ticket to Goa for mid-June. The price was too low to resist. I have not applied for leave from work, but it was just one of those impulse buys,” said Bangalore-based techie Guru Gopinath.
“It is a joke that I will be spending more than three times my air fare to get to Bangalore airport by taxi.”
