MUMBAI: The Aditya Birla group plans to make Indo Gulf Fertilisers its vehicle to foray into the sunrise biotechnology sector. The fertiliser major is also looking at diversifying into sectors like seeds, crop protection chemicals and agri inputs.The group sees biotechnology as its next big business after metals. Sources said the company is also conducting research on new businesses like seeds and agri inputs, the entry into which will make the Rs 678 crore Indo Gulf Fertilisers a competitor to the likes of Monsanto and Syngenta.
Its strong network will help the company sell seeds and agri products.
