Wild card entry Mahek Chahal, who recently got evicted from the Bigg Boss house, says that though Ali Quli Mirza has an amazing sense of humour, his jokes are often below the belt. "Ali has a great sense of comedy but he crosses the limit and goes below the belt. Whatever he recently did with Gautam is a good example of the fact. It's not that he doesn't realise that he has gone overboard but by the time he realises it, the damage is already done. But then you have to also realise what all he has gone through in these last four months. From being cornered in the house to being slapped, he has gone through a lot of things. So we have to understand that also," said the actress.
While controversial statements such as these are a surefire way to generate sky-high TRPs, let's take a look at other controversies that resulted in more viewership for the show.

According to an IANS report, evicted contestant Sana Khan who entered Bigg Boss Halla Bol as a Challenger, opines that everyone in the House is fake. "Everybody there wants to fight and create mess to seek attention. In my two weeks' journey, I did my best to bring some positivity inside there but everything happened opposite to what I thought. I can't be like Ajaz Khan, who can entertain people with his loud behaviour to stay in the show for a long time," she said to IANS. When asked who according to her is fake inside the house, Sana said, "All of them are fake in the Bigg Boss house. I didn't see any real emotions there. People were changing groups daily. All the contestants were changing opinions about each other on a day-to-day basis," stated the report.

According to a Bollywoodlife.com report, Ali Quli Mirza has threatened to smooch Gautam Gulati on Bigg Boss 8. In another bizzare incident of sorts, after venting out his frustration over the phone, during the Call Centre task, Ali Quli Mirza complimented Gautam Gulati on the mole that the latter has on his lips. But he didn't stop there. Interestingly, he went on to threaten Gautam with a smooch to which the TV actor took an offence and threatened to hit anyone who tried to get close to him. Ali then took this up as a challenge and has promised to smooch Gautam in the following 24 hours.

According to a report in Missmalini.com, Ajaz Khan is hurt with Farah Khan's monkey remark. Reportedly, Bigg Boss 8's new host, Farah Khan, reacted to Ajaz Khan-Ali Quli Mirza spat by questioning Ajaz and the latter didn't like her comment at all. The report quotes Ajaz as saying that he is hurt because of the way he was treated and disappointed as he wasn't allowed to present his version of the story. He claims that everything happened in the heat of the moment and that Ali hit him first with his elbow which wasn't shown on camera. He further states that when he saw a doctor, he was told that he had a swelling. Ajaz also reacts to Farah Khan's statement by saying that calling him, 'Aadmi ya bandar' was uncalled for.

Avid viewers of Bigg Boss Halla Bol took to the social networking site, Twitter when they saw a mobile charger during an episode of the show. Since then the Twitteratti has been busy discussing about the curious case of the mobile charger in the candy room of the Bigg Boss house. In fact many of the Gautam Gulati fans have also posted few pictures of Karishma Tanna with a phone like thing in her hand which she is trying to hide from Gautam. While some are calling it a mobile phone charger others are saying that it might be a cigarette packet, hookah charger, trimmer charger or hair-straightener charger.

Well, looks like these mobile phone pictures will cause much uproar outside the house.

According to a report on Miss Malini.com, Gautam's brother, Mohit Gulati has come to his brother's rescue, clarifying the story behind the pictures that were leaked online a few days ago. The pictures that showed Gautam kissing an unidentified woman surfaced on a social networking site. Defending his brother, Mohit was quoted as saying that the pictures were taken 7-8 years ago when Gautam was shooting for a deodorant ad, and there was a sequence where he had to stand and have a bunch of girls running towards him. Reportedly, after the shoot, one of the models wanted to take a selfie with him, and it was all in good humour. Mohit claims to be clueless as to why were the pictures being blown out of proportion.

Here's taking a look at some of the other controversies that riddled the ongoing season of the reality show.

According to a report on Businessofcinema.com, there has apparently been a conflict between the makers of Bigg Boss and the channel that airs it over the Bhavishyavaniya task that the contestants were made to participate in, during the last week. Apparently the purpose of the task wasn't aptly conveyed to the inmates and they ended up doing the opposite of what was intended. Due to this, the task had to be stopped midway and as a result apparently the TRPs of the show were also affected. This has reportedly created a rift between Colors head honchos and the Endemol Creative team.

Dimpy-Pritam fight: Bigg Boss is known for its mean fights that take place amongst the contestants. As the season is nearing its end, the scenario inside the house is getting uglier day by day. Pritam, who has always kept his calm and entertained us with his witty jokes and comedy, recently lost his temper when Dimpy passed a very strong statement against him. There has always been a cold war between Dimpy and Pritam, but this time Dimpy went a little overboard and called Pritam a namard. Pritam went furious after this and hurled abuses at Dimpy.

Diandra's pregnancy: We have seen contestants falling in love and getting intimate in the controversial Bigg Boss house, but this time we witnessed an unusual love story of Diandra and Gautam. Their alleged love relationship kept viewers glued to the television screens but the biggest shock came when the news of Diandra being pregnant with Gautam’s kid made it to the headlines. This news came right before Diandra Soares got evicted from the show. Diandra cleared all rumours after eviction but this controversy was probably the biggest controversy of this season.

Salman Khan storms out of the stage: Salman Khan is one such host who takes keen interest in what’s happening inside and outside the house. Viewers love to watch Salman on Weekend ka Vaar, but the charming actor recently got so annoyed after a heated argument with Karishma Tanna that he literally stormed out of the stage. Salman, who entertains everyone with his sense of humour, cracked a joke on Karishma but unfortunately it didn’t settle down well with her. She didn’t take it sportingly which annoyed Salman to the core.

Ali's escape from the house: Ali Quli Mirza, who is tagged as the joker of the house by the inmates, kept the tradition of climbing up the roof top to escape the house. Ali tried to escape from the house following the incident where he was slapped by Sonali Raut for passing inappropriate remarks. When everyone was getting in the mood to face Salman Khan on Weekend ka Vaar, Ali quietly moved out in the garden and tried to climb the rooftop using a ladder. He didn’t succeed in his attempt but his stint surely gave gossip mongers a topic to talk about.

Puneet–Aarya fight: The fight between Puneet Issar and Aarya Babbar during a task reminds us of a scene from the last season, when Armaan Kohli was arrested from the house for abusing Sofia Hayat. Though the fight between Aarya and Puneet didn’t invite police to the house, it did turn out to be a big controversy. Puneet Issar used martial art technique on Aarya Babbar to pin him on the floor during a task. After this, Bigg Boss immediately ordered to stop the task mid way followed by the announcement of Puneet Issar’s punishment. This incident created a lot of chaos as even host Salman Khan was dragged into this controversy. Many people waited for Salman’s reaction on this violent act as he has been blamed of being partial towards Puneet Issar.

Ali–Sonali conflict: Sonali Raut and Ali have been sharing cold vibes since the time Ali entered the house as a wild card entrant. But the situation turned worst when Ali Quli Mirza touched Sonali Raut inappropriately under the blanket on her knee. Sonali created a ruckus about this incident and then all the contestants of the house criticised Ali for his bad behaviour.

Karishma's make-up kit controversy: Karishma Tanna grabbed a lot of limelight because of her famous make-up kit controversy. Karishma, during the telephone booth task, had to surrender her entire make–up kit to Bigg Boss and had to be in front of camera without make–up all the time. In the next task Bigg Boss smartly gave her two options to choose from. Either she could opt for her make–up kit or she could relieve her friend Sushant Digvikar from the role of sevak. Her decision shocked everyone. Instead of opting for relieving her good friend, she selfishly opted for her make–up. Her decision changed the dynamics of the house.

Aarya–Minissha link-up: Yet another TRP boosting controversy of this season was Aarya Babbar’s shocking confession about her alleged love affair with Minissha Lamba. Minissha had accused Aarya of planning a fake romance with her to grab attention in the show, but this didn’t settle down well with Aarya. On Weekend ka Vaar when Salman Khan raised this topic in a fit of anger, Aarya said that Minissha was his girlfriend in the past. His revelation was unbelievable and the house went completely numb for some time.

Gautam–Karishma fight: The fight between Karishma Tanna and Gautam Gulati on eighth day of season 8 marked the start of an ugly journey of Bigg Boss. The teekhi mirchi that she is, Karishma made Gautam lose his calm in the very first task by applying chilly powder on his face and body during the task. Gautam exploded like a bomb and started hurling abuses at Karishma. After this, Gautam became the bad boy of the house and became a regular in the nominations.
