
Mercedes-Benz has introduced the new-generation of its G-Class sports utility vehicle (SUV) in India. The 2018 G63 AMG will be sold as completely built-up units (CBU) at an ex-showroom price of Rs 2.19 crore.

Gets some new design elements like the redesigned grille, LED headlamps and tail lamps, refreshed bumpers, and new alloy wheels.

In its second generation model, the G63 AMG retains most of the hallmarks of the iconic G-Class, including the old-school boxy design.

The dash gets a dual digital display instrument cluster, including a big centre infotainment screen with 15-speaker Burmester surround sound system and new COMAND online with NTG 5.5 multimedia interface. It comes with dual-tone Nappa leather upholstery.

The new bodyshell, mounted on a high-strength ladder-type frame, comes with increased torsional rigidity via a new material mix yet the SUV is 65 kilograms lighter, the company said in a statement.

Under the hood of the new Mercedes G63 AMG is a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo, V8 that delivers 576PS of power and a peak torque of 850Nm.

It offers three off-road modes (Sand, Trail and Rock) which are available when driving off the beaten track along with five 'Dynamic Select' on-road modes (Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual).

The company claims that it is capable of doing a 0-100kmph sprint in just 4.5 seconds and its top speed is electronically limited to 220kmph.

The new Mercedes-AMG G63 comes packed with advanced safety and assistance features like Active Brake Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Blind Spot Assist, a total of 9 airbags and AMG high-performance braking system.

Mercedes' only G-wagon available in India, the G63 AMG, competes with the likes of the Range Rover and the Lexus LX.
