NEW DELHI: Mini, part of BMW Group in India on Thursday launched the 2019 Mini John Cooper Works (JCW) hot hatchback at Rs 43.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Available as CBU (Completely Built-up) Unit from June, the Mini JCW is based on the Mini 3-door hatchback.
Under the hood, the 2019 Mini JCW gets a more powerful 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that delivers 234PS and 320Nm of peak torque.
The same mill does duty on the three-door Mini Cooper S but is good for 196PS and 280Nm. The Mini JCW is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Mini claims the hatch can clock triple-digit-speed from a standstill in 6.1 seconds.
The Mini JCW is offered with ten body paint options, 17-inch alloy wheels as standard (18-inch alloy wheels as optional extra), a panoramic sunroof and adaptive Matrix LED (Light Emitting diode) lights along with the Union jack tail lamps.
The cabin gets carbon-black leather seats with red accents as well as a sporty leather steering wheel with paddle shifters and automatically adjusted steering sensitivity. It also gets a heads-up display, Harman Kardon audio system with 12 speakers and an eight-channel digital amplifier.
“Our premium performance models that are named after the legendary John Cooper are the most powerful and exclusive Mini models ever built. John Cooper Works embodies the true essence of motorsport. When you’re behind the wheel of a John Cooper Works, you’re guaranteed thrills worthy of the race track, ” said Hans-Christian Baertels, President (act.), BMW Group India.
