Maruti Suzuki launches Ciaz Sports at Rs 9.39 lakhs

NEW DELHI: Maruti Suzuki on Thursday launched a sports variant of Ciaz at Rs 9.39 lakhs for petrol and Rs 11.55 for diesel (ex showroom prices). The Ciaz S has several new visual elements added while nothing changes in the mechanical setup of the sedan.
The Ciaz S gets a spoiler pack - front, side and a rear underbody and a trunk-lid spoiler.

It also features all-black interiors with grey chrome finishing.Besides these changes, the sports variant will have all the features already available in the Alpha variant of the car.
Speaking about the launch of the Ciaz S, RS Kalsi, senior executive director (marketing and sales) said the new variant will appeal to the younger generation. "Introduction of Ciaz S will further strengthen the position of Ciaz in the market by catering to the requirements of a younger yet premium customer who believes in the sporty spirit of life," he said.

Launched first in 2014, the Ciaz has managed to take the fight to popular sedans like Honda City and Hyundai Verna that were present before it. The introduction of mild hybrid (SHVS) technology in the diesel variant further pumped up sales although the government has since removed price concession for this technology. With the new Verna all set to be launched next week, the Ciaz S may be a strategic move to keep prospective buyers interested.
