Ferrari's first EV is 'Luce': iPhone-like interior designed by man behind iPhone
Ferrari has confirmed that its first all-electric sports car will be called Ferrari Luce. The company has also revealed the interior layout and digital interface of the upcoming EV. With Luce, Ferrari is not just entering the electric era, but also introducing a new naming direction for its future models.
A key highlight of the Ferrari Luce is its interior, which has been developed in collaboration with LoveFrom, the design collective co-founded by Sir Jony Ive, the former chief design officer at Apple and the man closely associated with the iPhone’s design language.
Ferrari says the cabin has been shaped around a clear philosophy: keep interactions intuitive and engaging by prioritising physical controls over touchscreen-heavy layouts. As a result, the Luce’s interior features digital displays with mechanical switches, dials and toggles.
Inspired by Ferrari’s classic three-spoke wooden wheels from the 1950s and 1960s, the Luce’s wheel has been reinterpreted using recycled aluminium alloy. It features triangular control pods with aviation-style switches, including rotary selectors for drive modes such as Range, Tour and Performance. On the right side sits Ferrari’s signature red manettino dial, which allows drivers to adjust chassis settings including Ice, Wet, Dry, Sport and ESC Off.
Directly behind the steering wheel is a 12.5-inch instrument , behind the steering column. This setup uses bespoke Samsung OLED displays and takes visual inspiration from aviation instruments. The central dial combines a physical needle with a digital speed readout, while surrounding displays show key information such as battery status, energy regeneration, tyre pressure and G-force readings. The upper OLED layer can also display warnings, navigation prompts and performance-related indicators.
Ferrari has a unique launch control system, which is activated by pulling a grip positioned above the driver’s head, similar to controls found in helicopters. Nearby switches are used to operate exterior lighting. The centre console includes cup holders, physical buttons for locking and boot access, and dedicated switches for all four power windows. Rear passengers also get a touchscreen that displays information such as speed and lap times.
The Ferrari Luce was internally known as Elettrica during its development phase. The final stage of the Luce’s introduction, including the full exterior reveal, is scheduled to take place in Italy in May 2026.
