Tata Tiago EV to get cruise control: Debut on September 28

Tata Motors has announced that the Tiago EV hatchback will receive cruise control, sports mode and multi-mode regenerative braking. Slated to launch on September 28, the Tata Tiago EV is likely to be the most affordable EV from the manufacturer. Select dealerships have already commenced the Tata Tiago EV bookings unofficially.

The multi-mode regen braking was first introduced in the Tata Nexon EV Max and later was offered with the Tata Nexon EV Prime. The new Tata Tiago EV is the third car from the manufacturer to receive this feature. Regen braking basically allows consumers to recharge the batteries while driving and offer the highest-regen level in single-pedal driving. Moreover, the Tata Tiago EV will get cruise control and a drive selector dial with Sports Mode.

In terms of design, the Tata Tiago EV will replicate the current ICE-powered Tiago hatchback. Similar to the Tata Nexon EV and Tigor EV, it will receive blue inserts on the interior. The new Tiago EV will receive a split battery, one placed in the trunk.

The Tiago EV will come equipped with premium leatherette seats. As far as the powertrain is concerned, it is likely to share the same powertrain as the Tata Tigor EV. Currently, for private buyers, the Tigor EV is powered by a 26 kW lithium-ion battery with an electric motor, cumulatively producing 75 hp power and 170 Nm torque. It offers a claimed range of 306 km. The battery can be charged from 0-100% in 1 hour 5 minutes using a 25 kW DC fast charger.

The Tata Tiago EV might get new colour options. We expect the Tiago EV to be more affordable than the Tigor EV with price ranging from Rs 9 lakh - Rs 13 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom). More details will be out on September 28, 2022. So stay tuned!
