Electric vehicles (EVs) are generally faster accelerating than their internal combustion counterparts, thanks to the instant torque delivery of electric motors. The Indian market has witnessed the launch of some of the most powerful and fastest electric vehicles in India in the past two-three years.
On that note, we have put together a list of the fastest accelerating electric cars you can buy in India in 2023, with money no bar.
5. Volvo XC40 RechargeThe Volvo XC40 Recharge is currently the fifth fastest accelerating
EV in India, thanks to its dual electric motor setup - one mounted on each axle, sending power to all four wheels. The electric motors together produce 408 PS of maximum power and 660 Nm of peak torque, helping the electric SUV sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.9 seconds (claimed).
The XC40 Recharge comes equipped with a 78 kWh battery pack that provides it a range of 418 km on a single full charge, as per the WLTP cycle. The Volvo e-SUV is currently priced at Rs 56.90 lakh (ex-showroom) for the sole fully-loaded variant on offer.
4. Jaguar I-PaceJaguar's first and only electric car in India, the I-Pace is currently priced from Rs 1.20 crore to Rs 1.24 crore (ex-showroom). It gets two electric motors with a combined power output of 400 PS and a peak torque rating of 696 Nm.
With its all-wheel drive system, the Jaguar I-Pace can dash from 0 - 100 kmph in just 4.8 seconds.
Powering the two electric motors is a 90 kWh-battery pack that provides the luxury electric SUV with a range of 470 km range on a single charge, as per the WLTP cycle. The battery of the Jaguar EV can take charging speeds of up to 150 kW.
3. Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ was launched in India as the company's first AMG-badged EV in the country. Introduced as a direct import (CBU), the EQS 53 is priced at a whopping Rs 2.45 crore (ex-showroom), Rs 90 lakh more than the EQS 580, which is assembled in India.
With the AMG 4MATIC+ system feeding power to all four wheels, the EQS 53 can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.4 seconds, thanks to the 761 PS of max power and a massive 1020 Nm of peak torque with the standard Dynamic pack. What's more, the super EV returns a range of 586 km (WLTP) on a single charge.
2. Audi RS e-tron GTThe Audi RS e-tron GT is priced at Rs 1.94 crore (ex-showroom), and gets two electric motors together churning out 646 PS of power (in boost mode), making the car hit the speed of 100 kmph in a mere 3.3 seconds from standstill. The EV gets a two-speed gearbox, with a short first gear for quick acceleration.
Audi offers the RS e-tron GT with a 93 kWh battery, providing a range of up to 481 km as per the WLTP test cycle. The electric car has an electronically limited top-speed of 250 kmph. It can take DC fast charging up to 270 kW, which will charge the battery from 5 - 80% in just 22 and a half minutes.
1. Porsche Taycan Turbo SThe Porsche Taycan Turbo S is the quickest electric car available in the Indian market in 2023. Sitting atop the Taycan range, the Turbo S is currently priced at Rs 2.34 crore (ex-showroom). The Taycan Turbo S' powertrain consists of two electric motors putting out 761 PS power and and 1,050 Nm torque, which helps the Porsche EV go from 0 to 100 kmph in just 2.8 seconds!

The Porsche Taycan Turbo S is equipped with a 93.4 kWh battery that provides a range of about 417 km (WLTP). The Taycan is based on the same VW Group platform as the Audi RS e-tron GT, also one of its biggest rivals in the Indian market.
