NEW DELHI: Jeep will open pre-bookings for its latest SUV - Compass - on its online platform as well as across 26 cities and 26 shopping malls from Tuesday. Expected to be launched in August, the five-seater will be the most affordable car from the Americans who also sell the Grand Cherokee and the Wrangler here.
Manufactured at the company's Pune facility, the Compass has been put on display at all FCA and Jeep-exclusive showrooms.
To be made available in five colours, three variants and 4x2 as well as 4x4 options, the company has promised that the car will be of identical quality and build for both Indian as well as international market.

The Compass has a bold look with the trademark seven-slat chrome grille from the front. It features sharp Xenon head lights and cornering fog lights, as well as LED tail lights. The interiors are plush white and the safety feature list includes six airbags, electric parking brake (EPB), All-Speed Traction Control (TCS), electronic roll mitigation, Hill-Start Assist and child seat anchors - Isofix.
In the first drive review, TOI Auto found Fiat's 2.0-litre Multijet II diesel engine in the compass decently powerful while off-road capabilities were more than adequate. (Full report and video here.)
