New Mini Cooper Convertible sells out within 24 hours of launch: Details
Mini India has revealed that the initial allocation of the new MINI Convertible was snapped up within a day of its India launch on December 12, 2025. Brought to the country as a fully built unit and priced at Rs 58.5 lakh (ex-showroom), the open-top MINI saw strong early demand, prompting the company to begin accepting bookings for the next lot, with deliveries expected to start in early 2026.
Based on the Cooper S hatchback, the Cooper Convertible mirrors its powertrain and dynamic handling traits but distinguishes itself with a folding soft-top roof, making it the more playful, lifestyle-oriented version of the two. In terms of design, the Convertible sports the brand’s signature circular LED headlamps paired with circular DRLs, flanking an octagonal grille finished with a blanked-off centre panel. The upper portion of the grille carries blacked-out horizontal slats and an ‘S’ badge, while larger air intakes sit lower on the bumper. On the sides, it gets 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, black cladding on the lower body and wheel arches add visual contrast.
At the rear, the Convertible gets oblong LED tail-lamps with Union Jack signatures, different from the triangular units seen on the hatchback. It gets a dual-tone rear bumper with Mini logo and Cooper S badge at the centre of the tailgate. It completely distinguishes itself with an electrically operated soft-top roof that can be opened or closed in 18 seconds at speeds of up to 30kph.
Moving inside, the overall interior layout and feature list are the same as the regular model. It features a dual-tone, minimalist interior with pill-shaped air vents and a dashboard finished in customisable, sustainable materials. The highlight of the cabin is a 9.4-inch Android-based OLED display that not only manages infotainment duties but also functions as the instrument cluster. Features include HUD display, powered front seats, a Harman Kardon audio system, automatic climate control, a rearview camera, wireless charging, ambient lighting, cruise control and more.
The Cooper Convertible uses the same 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine as the Cooper S hatchback which puts out 204hp power and 300 Nm torque. The engine comes paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and has a 0–100kph time of 6.9 seconds.
Mr. Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO, BMW Group India, said “That was quick! The speed at which the all-new MINI Convertible sold underscores how strongly our community resonates with irresistible design and a genuinely fun, authentic driving experience. We anticipated excitement, but this immediate embrace of the MINI lifestyle has been extraordinary. MINI owners don't follow trends, they carve their own path, top down. We can't wait to see this iconic MINI adding a burst of energy to streets across India.”
