JSW MG Motor India to increase car prices from this date: Details

JSW MG Motor India has announced a 2 per cent price increase across all its models. The price increase will be effective from January 1, 2026, and MG says it is a response to rising input costs and broader macroeconomic factors affecting the automotive sector. The company explained that the revision is essential to partly absorb the increased expenses in manufacturing and supply chain operations.

The upcoming revision is set to impact some of MG’s high-demand models. Topping the list is the Windsor EV, currently the company’s strongest-selling electric car, which is likely to see an increase of up to Rs 35,000. Once revised, its ex-showroom pricing is expected to start from Rs 14.25 lakh (ex-showroom). MG’s entry-level EV, the Comet, is also expected to receive an upward adjustment of around Rs 20,000, pushing its ex-showroom prices to approximately Rs 7.7 lakh (ex-showroom). MG is likely to reveal the revised prices for individual models and variants in the early part of next month. It is still unclear whether the recently launched Hector facelift will also be included in the price revision.


Talking about the newly launched MG Hector facelift, prices start from Rs 11.99 lakh and Rs 17.29 lakh for the Hector Plus (ex-showroom). This update marks Hector’s second major refresh since it arrived in 2019 and includes noticeable cosmetic upgrades inside and out, additional features, enhanced safety tech, and several other improvements. At present, the company has announced prices only for the petrol variants, with pricing for the diesel versions scheduled for 2026. Interested customers can book the SUV online or by visiting the company’s official website. Deliveries are expected to begin soon. It will continue to take on rivals such as the Tata Harrier, Safari, Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Alcazar and others in the segment.

On the outside, the updated Hector brings subtle but noticeable styling revisions. The large grille retains its familiar size but now features a fresh honeycomb-style pattern in place of the earlier diamond design, while the lower air intake has been mildly reworked. The alloy wheels have also been redesigned, continuing as 18-inch units with 215/55 tyres, and the SUV rides on the same black wheel-arch and side claddings. Lighting elements remain unchanged, with the split headlamp setup and connected LED tail-lamps carried over from the previous model, as are the bumpers, DRL modules, and shark-fin antenna. Rounding off the updates are new exterior paint options, including Celadon Blue and Pearl White, adding a bit more variety to the Hector’s colour palette.

Moving inside, the updated MG Hector features a fresh dual-tone Urban Tan cabin theme and an upgraded 14-inch portrait-style touchscreen that now supports MG’s i-Swipe gesture controls. Using this system, a two-finger swipe adjusts the climate control, while a three-finger gesture manages audio functions such as track selection and volume. The infotainment system also benefits from an enhanced VRAM module, expandable up to 10GB. The feature list continues to be extensive, including a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, digital instrument cluster, wireless charger, connected car tech, 360-degree camera, horizontal AC vents, a digital auto key with proximity lock and unlock, and an Infinity by Harman audio system.

Mechanically, it remains unchanged. It continues to be offered with two engine options - a 1.5-litre, 4-cyl, turbo petrol engine with 143hp and 250Nm, and comes paired either with a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT. Another engine is a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre turbo diesel with 170hp and 350Nm, which comes paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox only. MG also offers its unique MG SHIELD ownership programme as standard, which includes a 3+3+3 package comprising a three-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, three years of roadside assistance, and three labour-free periodic services.
