Hyundai i20 facelift spotted testing in India: All expected changes and launch details

Hyundai launched the third-gen version of the i20 in India back in 2020, and about three years later, the carmaker is yet to introduce a mid-life facelift for the premium hatchback. If the recently spotted test mules are to be believed, Hyundai seems to be finally working on bringing the i20 facelift to the market soon.
The updated car has been spied on test in India, partially covered in camouflage.It should be noted that the foreign-spec i20 recently received a mid-life makeover with some visual enhancements and an updated list of equipment. These respective changes are expected to be made to the India-spec i20 facelift as well.

While the overall silhouette will remain unchanged, subtle changes like a restyled radiator grille on the front bumper, new dual-tone treatment for the rear bumper with a more prominent skid plate, as well as slightly redesigned rear-end could be seen. Hyundai will also likely introduce brand-new alloy wheels with the premium hatch.
The Hyundai i20 in India is already packed up to the brim with features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, connected-car tech, a wireless phone charger, push button start/stop, automatic climate control, cruise control, an electric sunroof, Bose-powered audio system and so on. The facelift could bring along an updated instrument console with more functionality, more connected features, ambient lighting, and an improved standard safety kit.

Powertrains will likely remain unchanged. Hyundai now offers the i20 in India with two engine options - a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor making 83 PS power and 114 Nm torque, as well as a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit rated at 120 PS/172 Nm. The former can be had with either a 5-speed MT or a IVT, while the latter is available with a 6-speed iMT as well as an optional 7-speed DCT.
