Citroen
is planning to launch the C3
crossover
in India by mid-2022. The crossover is expected to focus more on comfort, feature spacious interior and fresh exterior. When launched in India, the
Citroen C3
will rival its potential competitors like Maruti Ignis, Nissan Magnite and Tata Punch. Here is what we can expect from the C3 crossover which will mark its India debut soon.
Cross-hatchback looksVincent Cobee, CEO of Citroen has described the C3 as a 'hatchback with a twist’. Aptly described as a cross-hatchback, it will get elevated seating and higher ground clearance. Featuring a quirky design, the front facia of Citroen C3 will receive split-LED headlamps, a double-slat front grille including the company’s logo and black cladding all over.
Spacious interior Citroen C3 interior appears to be more practical and spacious. The feature list includes a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster, aircon vents, a phone holder, and a flat-bottom steering wheel.
CMP modular platform Citroen C3 will be built on the heavily-localized CMP modular platform, similar to the Jeep sub-4-metre SUV. With over 90% of components being manufactured in India, the C3 will likely be aggressively positioned in its segment. Developed under the C-cubed program of Citroen, the crossover would be targeting the Indian and South American markets.
Turbo-charged engineAccording to sources, the Citroen C3 will likely use a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and will be mated to a five-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. No diesel engine will be on offer.
Aggressive pricing The heavily-localized Citroen C3 is likely to be aggressively priced between Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 8.8 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). It will compete with the likes of Maruti Ignis, Tata Punch and more.
