Isuzu Motor India has just launched the new 2026 Isuzu D-Max V-Cross pickup in the Indian market. The 2026 update brings minor cosmetic tweaks and an expanded equipment list, while also dropping the 4x2 option from the D-Max V-Cross lineup. With the 4x4 drivetrain now offered as standard. The pick-up continues its rivalry with the Toyota Hilux, in this article, let’s compare the new V-Cross with the Hilux.

2026 Isuzu V-Cross vs Toyota Hilux: Price, Variants

The Isuzu D-Max V-Cross pickup is offered in four variants - Z Standard, Z Premium, Z Prestige standard and Z Prestige premium with prices ranging from Rs 25.50 lakh to Rs 30.28 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom). The 4x4 is now offered as standard, and the entry-level variant has become Rs 1.23 lakh more expensive than before. At the top end, the D-Max V-Cross Z Prestige Premium 4x4 AT sees a price increase of Rs 63,000.

The Toyota Hilux is offered in three variants - STD, High and Black edition priced between 28 lakh and 35.8 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom). The 4x4 is now offered as standard. The Isuzu D-Max V-Cross is Rs 2.50 lakh to Rs 5.52 lakh more affordable than the Toyota Hilux (ex-showroom).

The 2026 Isuzu D-Max V-Cross is powered by a 1.9-litre turbo diesel engine producing 163hp and 360Nm, paired with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. However, the model is now offered only with a 4x4 configuration. An auto-locking differential has also been made standard across all variants to enhance off-road capability.




The Toyota Hilux is powered by a 2.8-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine with 201bhp of power and 430Nm (manual) or 500Nm (automatic). Gearbox options include a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. It also gets an electronic differential lock, and auto limited slip differential.

The Toyota Hilux measures 5,325 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width, 1,815 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3,085 mm. It offers 216 mm of ground clearance and comes with an 80-litre fuel tank capacity. The Isuzu D-Max V-Cross measures 5,295 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, 1,840 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3,095 mm. It offers 225 mm of ground clearance and comes with a 55-litre fuel tank capacity.

Compared to the Toyota Hilux, the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross is 30 mm shorter, 5 mm wider, and 25 mm taller, with a 10 mm longer wheelbase. It also offers 9 mm more ground clearance but has a 25-litre smaller fuel tank.

Features-wise, the 2026 Isuzu V-Cross gets a 10.3-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, projector headlamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, a 360-degree camera, an eight-speaker sound system, electronic seat adjustment for the driver seat, type-C charger port, electrically adjustable and retractable ORVMs and more. Safety features include six airbags (dual front, side, and curtain), ISOFIX mounts, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and traction control.

The Toyota Hilux features an 8.0-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, projector headlamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, semi-digital cluster, front and rear parking sensors, reverse parking camera and more. Safety features include seven airbags, Vehicle Stability Control, Brake Assist (BA), Hill Assist Control, traction control, ISOFIX mounts and more.
