TVS Apache RTX 300: What to expect from upcoming KTM 250 Adventure rival

TVS Motor Company is preparing to enter the adventure motorcycle segment. The company recently unveiled its 299cc liquid-cooled engine, RT-D4, at the Moto Soul 4.0 event in Goa. This engine will power the much-anticipated TVS Apache RTX 300, a road-focused adventure tourer that was recently spotted undergoing tests for the second time.

TVS RTX 300: What to expect

The spy shots reveal a design tailored for adventure touring rather than hardcore off-roading. The motorcycle features a tall windscreen, semi-faired bodywork, and a distinctive beak fender under split LED headlamps. The Apache RTX 300 boasts a muscular yet aerodynamic profile. LED turn indicators, a sleek tail section with split seats, and a high-mounted swept-up exhaust. Moreover, it gets auxiliary lights mounted on crash guards.

On the mechanical front, the motorcycle rides on a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel, fitted with dual-purpose tyres. The setup is supported by a steel trellis frame with a separate sub-frame, fully adjustable upside-down front forks, and a rear monoshock. Besides that, it gets raised handlebars and is likely to feature a TFT display among other equipment. Standard safety features are likely to include dual-channel ABS, switchable rear ABS, and multiple ride modes.

TVS RTX 300: Engine

The RT-D4 engine, developed at TVS’s R&D facility in Hosur, delivers 34.5 bhp at 9,000 rpm and 28.5 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. It pairs with a 6-speed gearbox, featuring a ride-by-wire throttle.

Positioned to compete with models like the KTM 250 Adventure, Yezdi Adventure and Suzuki V-Strom SX, the Apache RTX 300 is expected to hit the market by mid-2025.
