Train-like horn on Hero HF Deluxe! Watch police testing it in viral video
A bizarre motorcycle modification has gone viral on social media after a young rider was caught using a train-like horn on his Hero HF Deluxe. The horn sounds strikingly similar to a railway engine approaching a station. In a clip that is going viral on social media, police officials have caught the rider and can be seen testing the horn themselves.
Many online users criticised the act, saying such excessively loud horns can distract drivers, trigger panic reactions and increase the risk of accidents in already congested urban traffic conditions. Some users also questioned how such modifications continue to appear despite traffic regulations clearly banning pressure horns and train-style horns on civilian vehicles.
Officials reportedly caught the rider and have taken actions against the owner. According to traffic rules, fitting extremely loud pressure horns on private vehicles is illegal because they can create unnecessary panic and noise pollution.
In India, the use of pressure horns, train horns and multi-tone horns on private vehicles is prohibited under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR) and The Motor Vehicles (Driving) Regulations, 2017. Rule 119 of the CMVR states that vehicles cannot use horns producing harsh, shrill, loud or alarming sounds, except authorised emergency vehicles such as ambulances, police vehicles and fire brigades. The rules specifically ban air horns, pressure horns and train-style horns because of the noise pollution and panic they can create on public roads.
Authorities across India have also intensified crackdowns on loud modified exhausts and pressure horns in recent years following rising public complaints around noise pollution.
