Jonty Rhodes takes a dig at SA's 83 all-out against India with epic Royal Enfield Hunter comparison
Taking a lighthearted jab at South Africa’s dismal batting performance against India in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes took to his X handle to draw a comical connection between the Proteas and his Royal Enfield Hunter.
South Africa’s batting lineup, which has been a backbone for their significantly good run in the campaign thus far, crumpled against India’s bowling prowess. After getting all-out for a mere 83 runs, the country’s lowest in any ODI world cup, Bavuma’s men handed the hosts a thumping 243-run victory at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. This capitulation prompted Rhodes to make a witty comparison on X.
Posting a picture of the motorcycle being cleaned by his children, Rhodes said “I reckon this @royalenfield #Hunter of mine has a lot in common with the Proteas cricket team after yesterday’s @cricketworldcup match - nicely cleaned up”
As the Indian bowling attack swept the South African batting lineup for a surprisingly low total, Rhodes posted a picture of a clean, nicely-washed Royal Enfield Hunter to relate the two. Another thing that is cleaned up nicely is Rohit Sharma-led Indian team's record in the ongoing campaign. The two-time ODI World Cup winners are so far unbeaten and have bagged some dominating victories in the run, including that against the Proteas.
Talking about the motorcycle here, Royal Enfield, last year launched the Hunter in India. It draws its power from a 350cc, single-cylinder engine that belts out 20.2 hp and 27 Nm of peak torque. Going by the post, it appears that Rhodes is currently staying in India and is enjoying his time with this locally-produced motorcycle.
