Ideal Placement of a Shivling at Home
- Direction Matters: The Shivling should be placed in the north or northeast corner of the house, as these directions are associated with divine energy and Lord Shiva’s presence.
- Size of the Shivling: According to Vastu, a small Shivling (less than the size of a fist) is ideal for home installation, as larger Shivlings are traditionally meant for temples.
- Material of the Shivling: Shivlings made of black stone, mercury (Parad), or crystal (Sphatik) are considered most suitable for homes as they enhance spiritual vibrations and attract positivity.
- Placement on a Raised Platform: The Shivling should always be placed on a wooden or marble pedestal and never directly on the ground to maintain its sanctity.
- Daily Abhishekam Ritual: Offering water, milk, honey, and bilva leaves during daily Abhishekam purifies the home’s energy and removes negativity.
Things to Avoid While Keeping a Shivling at Home
- Avoid placing the Shivling in bedrooms, kitchens, or bathrooms, as these areas are considered inauspicious for divine worship.
- Never place the Shivling near the main entrance or under a staircase, as it disrupts the energy flow.
- Proper Worship is Essential: A Shivling should not be kept at home if one cannot follow regular puja rituals, as improper worship can lead to imbalance in energy.
Astrological and Vastu Benefits
According to astrology, keeping a properly placed Shivling at home helps nullify malefic effects of Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu, bringing stability, peace, and prosperity. It also enhances spiritual consciousness and removes obstacles in life.By following these Vastu guidelines, one can harness the divine energy of Lord Shiva and invite positivity and harmony into their home.
