Waking up tired? Could your bedroom Vastu be the problem?
There's no denying that the bedroom is that one special place in the house where one can sit back, relax and rejuvenate at ease, but there are times when most of that safe space feels cluttered and chaotic and makes you feel restless and anxious every time. Well, if you too have been waking up tired or feeling restless due to lack of sleep, then it's not always your health issues; rather, it can be the slackening energy of the bedroom that is leaving you drained. This may sound strange, but according to the Vastu Shastra experts, it is believed that the bedroom is the most powerful room of the abode, as it holds the power to revive and rejuvenate our energies, but there are many factors that can silently ruin the energy and Vastu of the bedroom and may lead to health issues, conflicts and lack of peace in the house. However, you do not always need to knock down walls to fix it. Sometimes moving things around makes all the difference! so, here is how you can tweak your bedroom setup to get sleep and more peace.
The right spot for the bed
The most important rule in Vastu is where you put your head when you sleep. Always try to position your bed so that your head points south or east. Your bedroom should be a place where you feel happy and relaxed.
Sleeping with your head toward the north is generally avoided because it is thought to interfere with your body's energy, leaving you feeling drained in the morning. Also try to keep the bed an inch away from the walls rather than pushing it right up against them to let the air flow. This will make your bedroom feel more comfortable.
Mirror placement
As per Vastu Shastra, having a mirror directly facing your bed is considered a no. It is believed to reflect back stress or restlessness while you sleep. If you have a dressing table or a wardrobe mirror that you cannot move, just cover it with a cloth or a curtain before you go to bed. It sounds simple. Many people find they sleep much more deeply once the eye of the mirror is covered at night. Your bedroom will feel more peaceful.
Under-bed storage
We all love using the space under the bed for suitcases, shoes or heavy boxes. However, Vastu suggests that this clutter traps energy and prevents it from moving. If your bed has built-in storage, try to keep soft things like extra blankets or pillows inside. Avoid keeping objects, tools or old paperwork under where you sleep. A clear space under the bed helps your mind feel clearer too. You will feel better when your bedroom is tidy.
Color and light
The colors on your walls can really change your mood. For a bedroom it is best to stick with soft tones. Think pinks, creams or very pale greens. Avoid reds or deep blacks on the walls, as these colors can be too busy for a room meant for resting. Also make sure your room gets some sunlight during the day to reset the energy before you use it at night. Your bedroom should be a place where you feel happy and relaxed so choose colors that make you feel good.
