Prisma app now available to all via Google Play store
NEW DELHI: Here’s some good news for Android users, the hugely-popular Prisma photo-editing app is out of beta and is beta and is now available for all Android users via the Google Play Store. The free app weighs 7MB and would requires Android 4.1 KitKat OS and later versions to run.
The photo-editing app was first launched on iOS and quickly became a rage because of its hand sketch-like effects. Users can simply click an image from their device’s front or rear cameras and choose the effects they want to apply. Users get a total of 36 filters. However, applying the filter on images for the first time might take about a minute. The intensity of the filter can also be controlled.
Unlike most other photo-editing apps, which simply overlap the filter effect on the existing image, Prisma app creates the complete image from ground-up using its artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
The photo-editing app aims to compete with some of the other photo-editing apps in the market like Instagram, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, Photo Editor Pro, Airbrush and more.
Prisma app co-founder recently said that the firm also has several new features in the pipeline such as the Prisma Video feature, 360-degree Prisma images, and a list of different 'styles' to transform real-life images into digital arts.
One challenge for the app developer may be dealing with the flood of Android users. As the apps servers did face strain after the sudden surge in its popularity among iOS users.
Prisma rival Adobe is also stepping up its game as it recently announced some new updates for the Lightroom photo-editing app on Android and iOS. For iOS users, the updated Adobe Lightroom v2.4 brings two major improvements -- ability to import images clicked in RAW formats, edit them and also Linear, and Radial selections. For Android, the app update brings Pro-mode under DNG RAW etc.
