Aamir Khan speaks about Satyamev Jayate

Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan, who is all set to return to the small screen with the second season of his highly awaited show, Satyamev Jayate, talks about the different aspects related to his show and the things that he would like to highlight in the second season of Satyamev Jayate.

Never neglected any topic due to political pressure: There has been no topic that we have not taken up because of any pressure, not a single. Our choice of topics is not determined by the pressure against us that could come to us because of a topic. That's not why we pick or avoid topics. Our choice of topics comes from a process in which we pull in the various thoughts on what the topics ought to be. We get suggestions from audiences through the internet on our websites. All of that is taken under consideration, we discuss everything when we are selecting a topic. Some of us even fight for a topic to be included and that is a process that we follow. The consideration of political pressure or any other pressure is never brought in. If a topic is left out, it is because the core team thinks that these 13 topics are currently very important that need to be focused upon and it will make a dynamic difference.

The big criticism that I faced was that I cried too much: One of the biggest criticism that I faced during season one of the show by one section of people was that I cried too much on the show. But that's how I am. I am a very emotional person and I do have tears in my eyes when I hear very heart breaking stories of people. I can't pretend otherwise. Even last time, I broke down so many times but we didn't show that as we didn't want to show 15 minutes of me crying on the show. We try to keep very little of that because the show is not about crying but if I am talking to someone and I cry during the conversation it becomes difficult to avoid.

Learnt the power of forgiveness: I have learnt the power of forgiveness through Satyamev Jayate because last season I have met many less fortunate people on the show who have suffered a lot in their life and yet they have moved on without holding any grudges. One change in me which I noticed is that, I have started forgiving people since then. This entire change is just because of a mother who came on the show last season, who spoke about the mishap that happened with her child but she didn't have any anger against the person who caused it.

I want to stay away from politics: I am very clear that I want to stay away from politics therefore I am not aligned with any political party nor do I intend to do so. For me issues are important and I would support a thought or not support a thought, irrespective of which political party that thought comes from. So it is the thought or issue that I support and not any political party.

Support two social issues- I want to bring woman empowerment and Unity: Empowerment of Women, I believe is the big game changer. Sociologically the woman is the center of the house. She gives birth to a child so she is a big influence on growing up children. So when a woman is empowered the family unit becomes strong and in return the society and country becomes strong. Unity is the second thing that I would like to support. Only when we work as a team will we all prosper. But when we work individually I may prosper for a temporary period but in the long run even I will lose. The sooner we realize this the better it is.

Is it right for an actor to get associated with political and social issues: I think it is very important for every Indian to be connected with any political and social issue, its democracy. And if we want the democracy to be healthy than eternal vigilance is the price of democracy. If you are not doing that you are letting go of your rights as a citizen. It's not the responsibility of an actor alone, it is the responsibility of each one of us. I think an actor should be doing it as an Indian. It doesn't matter what profession you belong to. All of us should be engaged socially and politically.
