Rahul Vaidya, since his school days, had always been a favourite of girls. He would hang around with them most of the time. The prankster that he was, he confesses to doing this only to help his friends pull fast ones.“One day a friend caught me while we guys were making plans on what our next prank should be. I saw tears in her eyes and that made me feel horrbile.
Later, I made a heart-shaped card for her and said sorry but it was too late. She told all the girls that I was a part of the bad guys gang and I was ashamed. From then on I promised myself not to play any more pranks on girls,” says Rahul.
During his college things were different and he went back to his mischievous self. However, he didn’t get into any serious relationship or dates. He says, “I never took anyone for granted. But there was this one girl who I was really crazy about. She was my senior and I didn’t know how to tell her about my crush on her. I would participate in inter-college festivals where she was very supportive. She believed in my singing talent, I would sing all her favorites and would look at her to see her expression.”
The guy was smitten and he would wait around her most of the time. He thought they were good friends. “But later I realised that she already had a boyfriend and was friendly with me only because her friends liked me,” he says ruefully.
This incident made him realise that emotionally, guys can also be very vulnerable. “I was taking time to get over her, or may be I didn’t want to. I focused on my singing. My parents and my sister were very supportive. They knew about my crush and were helping me forget her. They would wake me up early morning for my riyaz. Every morning I would pray to God for her,” he says.
Now, Rahul is doing well for himself and this girl is settled abroad. He concludes, “I owe my family and her smiles for where I am today.”
