‘You seriously think I will answer that?’ Trump shuts down reporter on Iran strike question; mimics press asking details— Watch
US President Donald Trump shut down a reporter on Wednesday who asked if America was preparing to strike Iranian nuclear facilities.
The reporter asked whether Trump believed the US was “moving closer to striking Iranian nuclear facilities” and followed up by asking: “Where’s your mindset on that?”
Trump replied sharply, “I can’t say that, right? You don’t seriously think I’m going to answer that question,” pointing out how unlikely it was that he would reveal any military plans.
“Will you strike Iran’s nuclear sites? What time exactly, sir? Can you tell us so we can be there and watch?” — Trump said, mimicking the way reporters press him with questions.
The question was raised during an event at the White House, where Trump had just unveiled two 100-foot flagpoles that he said were personally funded.
Trump keeps options open
Trump added that “You don’t know that I’m going to even do it. You don’t know..I may do it. I may not do it. Nobody knows what I’m going to do.”
He then shifted focus to Iran’s leadership, blaming them for missing a chance to negotiate earlier. “Iran’s got a lot of trouble, and they want to negotiate. I said, why didn’t you negotiate with me before all this death and destruction?”
The exchange comes amid rising tensions in the Middle East, with reporters repeatedly pressing Trump on whether US military action against Iran was on the table. Trump has not given clear answers.
