'What a waste of money': Pramila Jayapal gets trolled as she says her parents spent all money to send her to US

While Indian-American politicians face regular trolling, Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal was told that her parents wasted their money by sending her to the US as she was narrating about how she came to the US all alone at the age of 16. "My parents sent me to the United States, by myself, when I was 16 years old.They had 5000 bucks in their bank account and they used it all to send me here even though I was never going to live on the same continent as them again because they really believed that America was the best place in the world, where I would get the best education and the most opportunity," Jayapal said.

"Fighting for justice and dignity for our immigrant neighbors has never been “just politics.” For me, it’s personal," Jayapal wrote in her social media as she posted the video of her speech.

"What a waste of money," Pierce County sheriff Keith Swank posted trolling Jayapal.







"I don’t blame them. I bet the return on that money was life changing with the amount of money that y’all have taken. Better than hitting the lottery," another wrote in the comment section.

The speech that Jayapal posted was part of some Congressional hearing in the past.

Recently, Jayapal condemned the ICE arrests of US citizens during a House Judiciary Committee oversight hearing where outgoing DHS secretary Kristi Noem testified earlier this month. Jayapal brought four guests to the hearing and claimed that they all were US citizens and held in custody. None of them was charged with any crime.

“Raise your hand if you were not charged with any crime following your detention,” Jayapal said during the hearing as each raised their hand. “Not a single one of you were charged with a crime.” “Now raise your hand if any of you were not even asked to prove that you were US citizens during your detention. Not a single one of you were even asked about your citizenship status, making it clear that DHS agents simply don’t care that they’re arresting US citizens,” she said as each in the group again raised their hand.
