'We’ve never seen anything like this': Elon Musk reacts to Cybertruck explosion outside Trump hotel

Elon Musk has responded to a bizarre incident involving a Tesla Cybertruck, which erupted in flames outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on Wednesday morning.

The tech billionaire and owner of Tesla posted on X: “The whole Tesla senior team is investigating this matter right now. Will post more information as soon as we learn anything. We’ve never seen anything like this.”


The scene, captured on video, shows the vehicle fully engulfed in flames near the hotel’s lobby. One witness, who shared the footage on social media platform X, claimed the Cybertruck "blew up."

Authorities are still working to determine the cause of the fire. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police confirmed that the flames were extinguished and said they are "investigating."

A call about the fire came in at around 8 am local time, according to local news outlet KSNV News 3, prompting police and firefighters to rush to the scene.

Witnesses reported hearing a series of loud "boom, boom, boom" sounds before the truck caught fire. One bystander shared a video on X showing smoke rising from the area near the 64-storey hotel.

Police sirens were heard shortly after, and Fashion Show Drive was closed off while emergency services worked to secure the area.

There has been speculation that the explosion might have been caused by explosive devices stored in the vehicle’s chest, but officials have not confirmed this.
