Reacting to Trump's announcement, Musk on X wrote, "Department of Government Efficiency. The merch will be (Fire emojis)."

Ramaswamy also reacted to the announcement by tagging Musk in X post and wrote, "We will not go gently."

Ramaswamy becomes the first Indian American selected by Trump for his administration, which begins January 20 next year.

Trump said that these two Americans would help his administration reduce government bureaucracy, remove unnecessary regulations, reduce wasteful spending, and reorganise federal agencies, which he considers vital to the 'Save America' Movement.

"This will send shockwaves through the system, and anyone involved in government waste, which is a lot of people!" stated Musk, according to Trump's statement.

The President-elect compared this initiative to "The Manhattan Project of the current time".

The department of government efficiency represents a long-standing Republican aspiration. The department will provide external consultation and collaborate with the White House and office of management and budget to implement significant structural changes and introduce an unprecedented entrepreneurial approach to governance.

Trump expressed his anticipation for Musk and Vivek's efforts to enhance federal bureaucracy efficiency whilst improving American lives. He emphasised their role in eliminating substantial waste and fraud within the annual USD 6.5 trillion government expenditure.

"They will work together to liberate our economy, and make the US government accountable to 'WE THE PEOPLE'. Their work will conclude no later than July 4, 2026. A smaller government, with more efficiency and less bureaucracy, will be the perfect gift to America on the 250th Anniversary of The Declaration of Independence. I am confident they will succeed!" Trump declared.
