'Truly repulsive': Tucker Carlson's son Buckley hits back at Ben Shapiro for moving abroad comment
American commentator and host Tucker Carlson's son is standing firmly behind his father in support as the war between him and Ben Shapiro fires up. Buckley Carlson, 28, who has worked as Deputy Press Secretary in J.D. Vance's office since January 2025 took to X, to respond to political commentator Ben Shapiro's comment.
"Hard to fathom this is the "man" that presumes to lecture - endlessly, angrily - the "acceptable" parameters of the "conservative movement". AND, specifically to young Americans unable to survive the economy he and his friends designed and still advocate. Truly repulsive," wrote Carlson in the post, referencing Shapiro's recent controversial podcast clip.
In the clip, taken from the 41-year-old's appearance on the Triggernometry podcast, Shapiro suggested that Americans who cannot afford to live in the US should consider moving to another country. “If you’re a young person and you can’t afford to live here, then maybe you should not live here,” he said in the podcast, adding that people should move elsewhere for better opportunities.

Following the interview, Shapiro dedicated an entire episode of his show The Ben Shapiro Show to criticising Carlson, dubbing him an “intellectual coward,” a “dishonest interlocutor,” and a “terrible friend.”
“Since his exit from Fox News in 2023, when, of course, he was a very, very popular host, Tucker Carlson has turned himself into a conspiracist and a crank and a pathological liar,” he said about Carlson.
The two took their feud to the stage at Turning Point USA's first AmericaFest conference following the death of Charlie Kirk. Shapiro attacked Carlson, noting that Kirk "despised" the "evil troll" Fuentes whom the host interviewed.
In response, Carlson opened his speech by joking that he “missed the first part of the program” when Shapiro was speaking and adding that he hopes he “didn’t miss anything meaningful.”
As for Buckley Carlson, he has been working in Vance's office since January 2025. Previously, the 2019 University of Virginia graduate was the communications director for then Rep. Jim Banks who described him as "one of the smartest, most trustworthy and loyal staffers I’ve ever had," in an X post. Before joining Vance's team, he served as the Indiana Republicans' deputy chief of staff.

What he was saying is simple: if you cannot afford New York City, you move elsewhere. The way his words were cherrypicked and are being framed purposely misstates the point. In context, his argument is simpleâ you are not entitled to live in NYC merely because you want to or because you grew up there. New York offers exceptional benefitsâ arguably more than any other city in the countryâ and those benefits carry a cost. If you cannot pay that cost, the alternative is to live in a different city.Read allPost comment
