'Putin has gone absolutely crazy': Trump loses cool over Russia’s massive drone attack in Ukraine
US President Donald Trump has called his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin "crazy," after Russia carried out a massive drone attack in Ukraine, its biggest there since the war with Kyiv began in February 2022.
"I've always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something has happened to him! He has gone absolutely CRAZY! He's needlessly killing a lot of people, and I'm not just talking about soldiers," Trump posted on his Truth Social platform.
"Missiles and drones are being shot into cities in Ukraine, for no reason whatsoever. I've always said that he wants all of Ukraine, not just a piece of it, and may be that's proving to be right, but if he does, it will lead to the downfall of Russia," the US president added.
Trump didn't spare Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelenskyy either, saying that the latter is doing the European nation "no favours" by "talking the way he does." The Republican leader also criticized his own predecessor Joe Biden.
"Everything out of his (Zelenskyy's) mouth causes problems, I don't like it, and it better stop. This is a war that would have never started if I were president. This is Zelenskyy's, Putin's, and Biden's war, not 'Trump's,' I am only helping to put out the big and early fires, that have been started through gross incompetence and hatred," Trump wrote.
Russia's 'biggest' drone attack in Ukraine
At least 13 people were killed as Russia launched a record number of drones against Ukraine overnight to Sunday, officials said, even as Kyiv and Moscow completed their biggest prisoner exchange since the start of the war.
Those killed included victims aged eight, 12 and 17, in Ukraine's north-western region of Zhytomyr, they added.
The drone attacks came even as the two rivals completed their biggest prisoner swap, with 1,000 captured soldiers and civilian prisoners sent back by each side.
