Melania won't join Trump in customary White House meeting: 'Bidens are disgusting'

As President-elect Donald Trump meets Joe Biden tomorrow at the White House for the customary post-election meeting, Melania Trump won't be joining her husband in keeping the invitation from outgoing First Lady Jill Biden. Reports claimed there was a scheduling conflict as Melania has some other programs already scheduled at that time but the New York Post cited sources claiming that Melania does not like the Bidens after Joe Biden authorized the FBI raid at Mar-a-Lago as part of the government's investigation into classified documents -- where the officials even went through her underwear drawer. "The Bidens are disgusting," the report said.

"Jill Biden isn't someone Melania needs to meet," the report cited the source.

Trump will sit with Biden in the Oval Office Wednesday at 11 am. Traditionally, the outgoing first lady hosts the incoming one for tea in the White House. When Melania became the first lady for the first time after Trump's 2016 election win, she was received at the White Hoise by Michelle Obama. But in 2020 after Trump lost the election, they broke the decades-long tradition by not inviting the Bidens.

What Biden and Trump will discuss

Trump's chief of staff to-be Susie Wiles who was also his campaign manager was in touch with Biden's chief of staff Jeff Zients this week regarding coordinating the meeting. Biden spoke with Trump Wednesday, a day after the election, to congratulate him on his win and invited him to the White House. Trump said he and Biden agreed to have lunch together "very shortly" when they spoke by phone.

Melania will be 'absent First Lady'

Melania's rejection of the first invite from Dr Jill Biden even before Melania became the First Lady hints at a difficult term she will lead as the First Lady for the second term. She will not be at the White House permanently but will be occasionally available as she earlier made it clear that she would like to divide her time between Washington, and New York where her son Barron Trump is attending college.
