The game started with the Ducks taking an early lead, as Jakob Silfverberg found the back of the net with a precise wrist shot from the left circle, giving Anaheim a 1-0 advantage in the first period. However, the Kings responded later in the period with a power-play goal from Fiala, who unleashed a wrist shot from the right circle to tie the game at 1-1.

Anaheim regained the lead in the second period, capitalizing on a shorthanded opportunity. Sam Carrick converted a pass from Adam Henrique to put the Ducks ahead 2-1. However, the Kings fought back once again, with Doughty leveling the score with a blistering wrist shot from the high slot, notching his 13th goal of the season and tying the game at 2-2.

With neither team able to break the deadlock in regulation or overtime, the game proceeded to a shootout. Pierre-Luc Dubois and Trevor Moore scored for the Kings in the first two rounds, while goaltender David Rittich made a crucial save on Alex Killorn's attempt in the third round to seal the victory for Los Angeles.

Rittich, who made 22 saves throughout the game, stood tall in the shootout, turning away two of three attempts to secure the win for the Kings. Adrian Kempe also played a key role for Los Angeles, contributing two assists to help propel his team to victory.
