London mayor Sadiq Khan 'delighted' after Donald Trump calls him 'nasty': 'He'd see how...'

London mayor Sadiq Khan's spokesperson said he was delighted that US President Donald Trump wants to visit London, though Trump called Khan a "nasty person". At his Turnberry golf resort in South Ayrshire, Trump was asked if he would visit London. “I’m not a fan of your mayor. “I think he’s done a terrible job, the Mayor of London … a nasty person," Trump said with British PM Keir Starmer leaving him embarrassed.

“He’s a friend of mine, actually," Starmer said in defense of Khan but Trump was adamant on proving Khan terrible though he said he would certainly visit London. "I think he's done a terrible job. But I would certainly visit London," he said.


Sadiq Khan's spokesperson said Sadiq is delighted that President Trump wants to come to the greatest city in the world. “He’d see how our diversity makes us stronger, not weaker; richer, not poorer.

“Perhaps these are the reasons why a record number of Americans have applied for British citizenship under his presidency.”

President Trump and Sadiq Khan have had a turbulent relationship since Trump's first term when Sir Sadiq criticized Trump's pledge to ban Muslims from the US. Trump called Sir Sadiq Khan a "stone-cold loser" and "very dumb". “It’s personal, let’s be frank. If I wasn’t this colour skin, if I wasn’t a practising Muslim, he wouldn’t have come for me," Sadiq Khan said earlier.

Trump's latest attack on Sadiq came as he warned Keir Starmer he must slash taxes and immigration if he hopes to defeat Nigel Farage at the next election.

"Low taxes, keep us safe, keep us out of wars….And in your case a big immigration component.” He also said he thought he won the US election because of his focus on immigration.

The London mayor won three elections to the position, including May 2021, months after Donald Trump lost the US election.
