Jacksonville declares June 16 as Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Peace and Wellness Day
The City of Jacksonville has officially declared June 16 as Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Peace and Wellness Day, recognizing the lifelong contributions of spiritual leader and humanitarian Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
The proclamation, presented by the mayor at a formal ceremony held at the University of North Florida, celebrates Gurudev's work in promoting peace, well-being, and unity through the global initiatives of the Art of Living Foundation.
With this announcement, Jacksonville becomes the 32nd city globally—and the latest in a growing list of US municipalities—to recognize the impact of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s teachings. Other cities that have previously celebrated a Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Day include Washington, DC; Austin, Texas; Detroit, Michigan; and Mobile, Alabama.
Founded in 1981, the Art of Living Foundation offers programs in meditation, yoga, and stress relief and has been active in humanitarian and community-building work in over 180 countries.
