Is Nancy Pelosi drunk? Social media reacts, 'I can smell this video'

Former US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday posted a video on social media announcing her travel to Washington, DC, to begin her 20th term in the House of Representatives. However, some social media users commented on the video, suggesting Pelosi appeared 'drunk.'

The California Democrat was en route to the capital for the start of the 119th Congress on January 3, 2025. Pelosi was re-elected to the US House in California’s 11th Congressional District in November 2024.

In her post on the social media platform X, she expressed pride in representing the people of San Francisco and their values in the US Congress.

"On my way to Washington, DC to proudly represent the people of San Francisco and share our San Francisco values in the Congress of the United States. Thank you for giving me that honor! -NP," she wrote, accompanying the post with a video.



"I can smell this video"
After Pelosi posted the video, social media was flooded with comments alleging she was intoxicated. One user commented, "Day drinking as usual." Another wrote, "I can smell this video," implying Pelosi was drunk. A third user added, "Brought to you by Smirnoff Vodka."




Comparisons to vice president Kamala Harris also emerged, with one user asking, "Who drinks more, Nancy or Kamala?" Another commented, "Drunken dame," while someone else called Pelosi "old and drunk." A user questioned, "How many drinks did she have before recording this video?" and further suggested, "We need breathalyzer tests to enter the Capitol." Another user joked, "The guy next to her, 'I’ll have what she’s drinking.'"




Speculations about a facelift
A few users speculated that Pelosi might have undergone a facelift. One commented, "Did she just have another facelift? (How many is this now, Pelosi? 25-26?)" Another said, "She looks plastered." A user added, "Wait, I thought her hip was broken/replaced. Did she have a facelift, too?"
