US vice president Kamala Harris shared her personal background and outlined her commitment to supporting working families if elected president. She took to the social media platform X, saying, “I grew up a middle-class kid. I was raised by a hardworking mother, who, like so many people across our nation, had big dreams and aspirations for her children.”
Harris claimed that bringing down costs for working families will be her top priority. Under her proposed plan, more than 100 million Americans are set to receive tax breaks, putting thousands of dollars back into the pockets of families. “Including $6,000 during the first year of a child’s life,” she added.
The Vice President firmly believes in the strength of the middle class, asserting, “I believe when the middle class is strong, America is strong.”
US President Joe Biden praised his pick for the party's vice presidential nominee, saying, “Kamala, as you all know, is smart. She's tough. She's experienced. She's a proven fighter for the backbone of this country—the middle class, and for all those who are struggling to get into the middle class. Kamala knows how to govern.”
