Grammy nominated rapper shot dead in Los Angeles

neighbourhood, police said, cutting short a career that earned him a Grammy nomination this year for his major-label debut. He was 33. Police said Hussle was one of three men shot on Sunday outside his store Marathon Clothing; the other two were in stable condition. Police said the probe is being handled as a homicide and they are looking for one male black suspect.


Hussle, who had two children and was engaged to actress Lauren London, was an Eritrean-American whose real name was Ermias Asghedom. "This doesn't make any sense! My spirit is shaken by this," Rihanna wrote while posting photos of Hussle with his daughter and another with his fiance.

Other artists. including Drake, Michael Jordan, Pharrell Williams, and Jada Pinkett Smith, also , took to their

social media

accounts to mourn the loss of the artist. Hussle was born on August 15, 1985, in the same Crenshaw neighbourhood where he died, and where he had been working to provide youths with alternatives to the hustling he did when he was younger.

Hussle's "Victory Lap" scored a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album at this year's ceremony. It was his first formal album, which dropped after six years of teasing but ultimately lost the honour to Cardi B.
