From Wall Street to Hollywood: Casey Wasserman latest hit in Epstein files fallout — read full list
Several people were affected after department of justice released Epstein files and the new person added to the list is Casey Wasserman, a leading Hollywood talent agent whose clients include Chappell Roan, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran and Kendrick Lamar.
Wasserman said late on Friday he was selling his business after communications with Ghislaine Maxwell were exposed as part of the US justice department’s recent dump of investigative documents relating to Jeffrey Epstein, Guardian reported.
"I'm deeply sorry that my past personal mistakes have caused you so much discomfort. It's not fair to you, and it's not fair to the clients and partners we represent so vigorously and care so deeply about," Wasserman wrote.
"The pain experienced by the victims of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell is unimaginable - and I'm glad, as I'm sure you all are, that those who helped them commit their crimes are rightly being held accountable."
Wasserman, grandson of the late famed Hollywood dealmaker Lew Wasserman, said he was putting his eponymous talent and marketing agency on the block, citing the impact on the company from “past personal mistakes” and telling staff he felt that he had “become a distraction” to its work.
Wasserman said a deputy, company president Mike Watts, would oversee day-to-day business operations “while I devote my full attention to delivering Los Angeles an Olympic Games in 2028 that is worthy of this outstanding city”.
Other than Wasserman, several people were also faced consequences and few of them are:
Kathy Ruemmler
The former chief legal officer of Goldman Sachs, resigned after US Department of Justice documents showed she advised Jeffrey Epstein on legal matters and exchanged warm emails with him, despite previously describing their relationship as purely professional, Business Insider reported.
Brad KarpHe stepped down as chairman of Paul Weiss after emails revealed he worked with Epstein in matters connected to billionaire Leon Black and sought Epstein’s help securing a job for his son with filmmaker Woody Allen.
Peter Attia
He resigned from advisory roles after emails surfaced in which he gave Epstein health advice and made crude remarks about women, later calling the messages “embarrassing” and “indefensible.”
Howard Lutnick
The politician is facing bipartisan calls to resign after records showed he visited Epstein’s island in 2012 despite previously stating he had cut ties.
Steve Tisch
He is under review by the National Football League after emails showed exchanges with Epstein discussing women.
Sarah Ferguson
She saw her charity shut down after emails revealed affectionate messages sent to Epstein during his imprisonment.
Peter Mandelson
He resigned as the UK ambassador to the US amid an investigation into whether he shared sensitive government information with Epstein.
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem
The entrepreneur was replaced as chairman and CEO of DP World after emails showed a close personal relationship and explicit remarks involving Epstein.
