Firefighters were able to contain a fast-moving brush fire on Monday night, in Hemet, Riverside County,
Strong Santa Ana winds swept through the area, creating high fire risk. The blaze, named the Chambers Fire, was first reported around 6 p.m. in the vicinity of Chambers and Gilbert streets, according to wildfire monitoring platform Watch Duty.
According to KTLA, Cal Fire crews responding to the scene quickly requested additional support, bringing the total to five fire engines and one water tender. Despite the fire's fast pace, preliminary reports suggested no structures were immediately under threat. However, law enforcement was reportedly called in for traffic control as flames edged closer to Domenigoni Parkway.
The fire coincided with a Santa Ana wind event in Southern California, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a “particularly dangerous situation” warning earlier in the day. These winds, notorious for fueling wildfires, created challenging conditions for firefighters, reported KTLA.
As of Monday night, the fire’s forward progress had been halted. No evacuation orders or warnings had been issued, and there were no immediate reports of injuries or property damage.
