'Fine with Orlando but ... ': Former husband Russell Brand slams Katy Perry for relationship with Justin Trudeau; calls her boyfriend 'globalist stooge'

Actor and comedian Russell Edward Brand has called out his ex-wife and pop singer Katy Perry for her new relationship and called former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau a "globalist stooge."

While addressing the AmFest 2025, Brand said that he was fine with Parry dating Orlando Bloom but not Trudeau.


"I was married to Katy Perry… I was okay with Orlando Bloom, but Justin Trudeau? Come on, man. Don’t put me in a category with that guy! That globalist stooge," Brand said at the stage.



Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made their first public appearance as a couple in October 2025 at a cabaret show at Crazy Horse Paris to celebrate her birthday.

They had previously sparked relationship rumours in July 2025 when they were spotted on a date in Montreal, Canada.

“They are interested in each other, but it will take a while to see where this goes,” the source said. “She is traveling around the world, and he is figuring out his life now that he is no longer prime minister of Canada, but there is an attraction. They have a lot in common.”

“Music is one of many things they can share,” the insider added. “Both are idealists and still live in a world where they think they can make improvements, although it has gotten more difficult.”

Perry was married to comedian Russell Brand from 2010 until 2012, with Brand filing for divorce.

She later became engaged to actor Orlando Bloom. The pair met at a Golden Globes afterparty in 2016 and got engaged in 2019. They called off their engagement in June 2025 after nine years together and are parents to daughter Daisy Dove Bloom, whom they welcomed in August 2020.

Earlier this year Brand was charged with five counts of assault and rape stemming from allegations by four women. His sexual assault accusations first emerged in September 2023 when five women spoke on their alleged experiences in a joint investigation by The Sunday Times, The Times and Channel 4 current affairs show Dispatches. One woman alleged she was raped by the actor in a town in the south of England in 1999. Other alleged incidents happened in London in 2001, and between 2004 and 2005.
