Elon Musk plans to make his very own Mar-a-Lago in Washington. Here's why

Elon Musk is looking to create his very own Mar-a-Lago in Washington to remain close to the power center as now the Trump family makes their move to the capital. Ever since Donald Trump's election victory, Elon Musk became a fixture at Mar-a-Lago -- Donald Trump's Palm Beach clubhouse. According to multiple reports, Elon Musk now making a winning bid on the Line Hotel -- a 220-room hotel that he plans to turn into a private social club. Reports said the hotel was opened just seven years ago but after it failed to meet the owners' financial expectations, it is going for auction.

The public auction is next week and Elon Musk, in all likelihood, is all set to win the bid. It's not clear what his exact plans are regarding the property -- whether he looks to make it his base in Washington around Donald Trump -- or whether it would be an unofficial den for the MAGA.

"It is unclear where Mr Musk will live in Washington, although there are local media reports that he is trying to buy the Line Hotel in the buzzy, bar-heavy neighborhood of Adams Morgan and turn it into a private club. A spokeswoman for Mr Musk, the Tesla founder whose rocket company, Space X, has billions of dollars in contracts with the federal government, did not respond to a request for comment," A New York Times report said.

As the co-chief of the Department of Government Efficiency, Elon Musk is expected to have an office in the in Eisenhower Executive Building across from the White House where he will work with Vivek Ramaswamy, who is also planning to run for governor of Ohio, the NYT report said.

The NYT report noted that it's not only Elon Musk but Washington properties are in high demand as many billionaires and multimillionaires are flocking to the city.
