Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy making 'naughty' and 'nice' lists. This is for...
Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy told the lawmakers Thursday that they are keeping 'naughty' and 'nice' lists. Even before they officially start working, they have already spread apprehension that a lot of federal workers are going to lose their jobs and some lists went viral. But this nice and naughty list will be for the members of Congress and senators on how they spend people's money.
The nice list will contain members who join in the budget-slashing proposals and the naughty list obviously those who don't. DOGE aims to cut the US federal budget by at least $2 trillion.
The co-chief of Donald Trump's Department of Government Efficiency which will work from the outside of the administration and identify the areas where costs can be slashed met Republicans at Capitol Hill and answered their questions on how DOGE is going to work with Congress.
Georgia Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene who will be chairing the oversight committee on DOGE's agenda when the next Congress begins said the idea of the 'nice' and 'naughty' list to hold each elected member accountable for the spending they sanction would be fantastic. “I am looking forward to exposing every single unelected bureaucrat, every single agency that is wasting the American people’s money," Greene said.
At the meeting, Elon said his main concern is that many Americans don't even know that the US has a debt of $36 trillion. "Elon said if we can educate the American people, getting the American people on board puts the right pressure where it belongs, on the House, in the Senate..." Greene said.
The meeting was the first between DOGE and Congress members though Democrats were not present at the meeting. DOGE, however, has received warm responses from some Democrats including Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz, Ro Khanna and now John Fetterman.
Fetterman said he admires Elon Musk as he is a very important part of American society -- AI, SpaceX. "Yes, he is on a different team but that doesn't make me an enemy. I won't automatically become a critic. It's like hey, he's made our economy and our nation better; our politics are different and I don't agree with many of the things he might say but that doesn't make him an enemy," Fetterman said. Elon Musk reacted to the praise and said it's hard not to like Fetterman as he puts country over party.
