Donald Trump Jr. has defended his father’s demolition of the White House East Wing by posting a crude meme targeting former first lady
Michelle Obama.
The meme was shared on his Instagram story on Thursday evening, claiming that “no one complained” when Michelle Obama “got a urinal in her private bathroom.”
The photoshopped image showed Barack Obama kissing his wife on the cheek in a generic bathroom with a urinal. Trump Jr. also added laughing emojis to the post. The caption read: “White House Reacts to Outrage Over East Wing Demolition for Trump Ballroom. No one complained when Michelle got a urinal in her private bathroom, though.”
The meme played into a false right-wing conspiracy suggesting Michelle Obama is a man. Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton, a former presidential candidate, slammed both the demolition and Trump Jr.’s social media antics, posting on X: “It’s not his house. It’s your house. And he’s destroying it.”
Trump Jr. hit back by claiming Clinton stole goods from the White House, "Says the woman that literally had to return the furniture and silverware that she stole from The White House on the way out. Hey Crooked, you may want to sit this one out!"
Satellite images of the wreckage show the destruction that has outraged historians. The MAGA chief is keen on completing his project of a $250 million ballroom with the help of donors like Apple and Google. The GOP leader has also claimed the new installation is not costing taxpayers any money.
Trump Jr. has long embraced controversial memes as part of his public persona. At a memorial for slain right-wing commentator Charlie Kirk, he referenced his own online posts, saying: “Anyone who’s seen me on social media knows, I’m far more likely to crack a joke or get myself in trouble for posting some grossly inappropriate memes than I am to shed a tear.”
