Trump will take the oath of office at 12 pm EST (1700 GMT), administered by Chief Justice John Roberts, formally beginning his second term as president. The ceremony, initially planned to be held in front of the US Capitol, will instead take place inside the congressional complex due to extreme cold.

The inauguration marks one of the most extraordinary political comebacks in US history, as Donald Trump reclaims the presidency after a four-year absence.
