Donald Trump says exercising is 'boring' as his physician confirms he takes 325 milligrams of aspirin 'daily'
US President Donald Trump has admitted he finds exercise boring, even as doctors recommend steps to protect his health.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, the MAGA chief said, “I just don’t like it. It’s boring. To walk on a treadmill or run on a treadmill for hours and hours like some people do, that’s not for me.”
The soon-to-be 80-year-old GOP leader is an avid golfer and considers playing golf his form of exercise. “My ‘exercise’ is playing, almost never during the week, a quick round of golf,” he told reporters in 2020.
Trump also discussed his medical choices, revealing that he takes a daily 325-milligram aspirin dose to thin his blood, higher than the 81 milligrams recommended by doctors, according to CNN. “They say aspirin is good for thinning out the blood, and I don’t want thick blood pouring through my heart. I want nice, thin blood pouring through my heart. Does that make sense?” he said.
Doctors have expressed concern over the high dose and said that aspirin can prevent blood clots, but higher doses increase the risk of bleeding without added benefit. Trump’s physician, Dr Sean Barbabella, has said that the president “remains in exceptional health.”
Trump also clarified reports about a medical scan he had in October, stating it was a routine CT scan, not an MRI as some had suggested. “It wasn’t an MRI. It was less than that. It was a scan,” he said. The scan reportedly showed normal results for his cardiovascular and abdominal systems.
Trump addressed other health issues, including swelling in his legs due to chronic venous insufficiency. He said he stopped wearing compression socks recommended by doctors because “I didn’t like them.”
Furthermore, Trump dismissed concerns about appearing to doze off at public events, saying, “I’ll just close. It’s very relaxing to me. Sometimes they’ll take a picture of me blinking, blinking, and they’ll catch me with the blink.”
He also downplayed hearing difficulties, saying he struggles “when there’s a lot of people talking,” but otherwise hears normally.
