A White House press release apparently misspelled 'Colombia' as '... Read More
Amid a major face-off between President Donald Trump and Colombian President Gustavo Petro, a screenshot of the White House spelling Colombia as Columbia went viral. Columbia is an Ivy League university in New York City. “ICYMI [In Case You Missed It]: President Donald J. Trump’s TRUTH on Columbia Sanctions,” the viral message said, according to social media claims. The press release, however, has now been removed from White House archives.

As the screenshot went viral, social media users commented about how the 'best people' hired by Donald Trump made such a typo, while others questioned the authenticity of the viral screenshot and Trump fans defended the spelling mistake and said it was not a spelling bee competition that Trump had to win.

Republicans against Trump said, "Trump’s White House misspelled ‘Colombia’ as ‘Columbia’…confusing the country with the University in an official announcement," along with a clown emoji.

Jeff Stein, White House economics reporter for The Washington Post, said, "I know Barron is going to NYU but it seems like a little much."

Former Trump campaign aide AJ Delgado said, "Did a WHITE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE really misspell Colombia? I remember how much I had to proof read and correct BASIC mistakes in drafts by others on the 2016 Campaign but this is... wow." "Only the dumbest of the dumb work in this White House," she added.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt came under fire as X users blamed her straight for the spelling mistake.

Colombia President Gustavo Petro announced that he had blocked two deportation flights carrying migrants from landing in the country. This prompted Trump to announce an emergency 25 per cent tariff on all imported goods from Colombia. Then Petro caved in and agreed to send his presidential plane for repatriation efforts though he later announced that he also had plans of counter-tariffs on imports from the US.
