California father arrested for allegedly beheading his 1-year-old son

California's Sacramento County deputies arrested a 28-year-old man, Andrey Demskiy, on Friday morning in connection with the brutal murder of his 1-year-old son.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office described the horrifying incident as a domestic dispute that escalated into an unthinkable act of violence.
Deputies responded to a call about a domestic disturbance at a home on Versailles Way in Antelope, California, at approximately 4.15 am (local time). Upon arrival, they encountered a woman outside the residence who alleged her husband had assaulted her and her mother.
The mother-in-law sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital; her condition is not life-threatening, according to ABC10.

The woman informed deputies that her 1-year-old son was still inside the home and feared he had been harmed. After Demskiy refused to exit the residence, deputies forced their way inside.
During the confrontation, Demskiy resisted arrest but was eventually detained.

Inside the bedroom, deputies made a gruesome discovery—the severed head of the child. Investigators believe the beheading occurred after the wife and her mother fled the home.
According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, Demskiy allegedly used a knife to kill his son in an act described as both violent and incomprehensible.

Demskiy was arrested on suspicion of murder, corporal injury on a spouse, and assault likely to produce great bodily harm. He is being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail without bail.
Sgt. Amar Gandhi of the sheriff’s office described the emotional toll on deputies who responded to the scene: “The deputies that had to discover that and see that … go home every night to families, to their kids and have to process this. This is something that has shaken them,” he said, as reported by ABC10.
Demskiy’s next court appearance is scheduled for December 24.
