'Anti-Indian abuse...': Mehdi Hasan condemns 'racist' attacks on Vivek Ramaswamy by MAGA Christian nationalists
British journalist Mehdi Hasan condemned “brazenly racist and anti-Indian abuse” directed at Republican leader Vivek Ramaswamy and his family, saying such attacks should be rejected across all party lines, irrespective of ideology.
In a post on X, Hasan said he disagrees with Ramaswamy on politics and policy but called the treatment of him and his family, including his children, “outrageous” and “disgusting”. He said the abuse coming from parts of the MAGA Christian nationalist base crossed a serious line and deserved universal condemnation.
Ramaswamy, who is campaigning for governor of Ohio, has faced a wave of racial attacks in recent weeks, particularly from far-right GOP figures. White nationalist commentator Nick Fuentes has repeatedly targeted Ramaswamy using xenophobic language and questioning his background and place in American politics. Fuentes has also said he plans to actively campaign against Ramaswamy in the 2026 Ohio race, urging followers to oppose him because of his Indian heritage.
Even after being endorsed by Trump himself, Ramaswamy still faces comments calling for him to "self-deport."
The attacks have drawn criticism from both sides of the political aisle. Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna described the rhetoric as “chilling” and warned that such race- and religion-based attacks are part of a dangerous strain of extremism in US politics. Some Republican commentators have also rejected Fuentes’s remarks.
The row deepened after social media users began targeting Ramaswamy’s children, sharing images and posting abusive comments.
Vice President JD Vance also weighed in after similar racist remarks like "jeet" were aimed at his Brown Hindu wife, Usha Vance. Responding publicly, Vance said anyone who attacked his wife on racial grounds “can eat s---t."

America is for Americans. Why interfere in that. If Indians are in America, then support Americans. Don't ever oppose them. It's their country. Not yoursRead allPost comment
