'Am not voting for Trump': Chappell Roan on presidential endorsement comment

Chappell Roan on Wednesday clarified that she was not going to vote for Donald Trump adding that she would always question the authority and stand up for what's right.

“Hear it from my mouth, if you’re still wondering. No, I’m not voting for Trump and yes, I will always question those in power and those making decisions over other people. And I will stand up for what’s right and what I believe in. And like, it’s always at the forefront of my project,” Roan said on TikTok.

The clarification came when the singer received criticism for her comments when asked if she was endorsing any candidate for the presidential run.

“There are so many things that I would want to change. So I don’t feel pressured to endorse someone,” Roan had told Guardian.

After Roan's comments gained traction on social media, many criticized her for being a champion of the queer community, which has faced attacks from policies under the Trump administration. Her use of "both sides" was seen by many as equating Harris and Trump, despite one side actively demonizing the community she represents.

“If you read my full interviews, if you literally know anything about me and for what I stand for, you know that this is not lip service. This is not virtue signaling. That my actions have always paved the way for my project and the people who really know me… actions speak louder than words and actions speak louder than an endorsement,” Roan said in her clarification video, as quoted by Deadline.
