America is concerned about the misuse of citizens’ data by Chinese apps. Now, its lower House has passed a bill asking the top Chinese app to find a new owner or quit

The grimly titled 'Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act' threatens to effectively shut down TikTok, the short video platform that has about 150 million users in the United States. But US lawmakers aren't convinced that its users' data is safe with the Chinese-founded app.

The lower House of the US legislature has, therefore, laid down that ownership of TikTok must change hands from its Beijing-based parent ByteDance if the platform is to continue to be available in US.
